One of my most important tests when judging a concert shot is how well I can "hear" the music. Gestures and body language are key contributors to that. To me, Carmen stands as one of the greatest pure jazz vocalists and interpreters to ever grace a stage or recording studio. When I look at this shot, I'll always hear her bringing her low, throaty voice to a whisper, while balancing musical space with her left hand.
