Picture of Lowell George baring his soul through his guitar solos

Lowell George, June 14, 1978

A great musician who died way too soon, Lowell was a member of Frank Zappa's band before he left to form Little Feat in 1970. His greasy, masterful slide guitar work, gritty vocals, and quirky compositions fueled a volatile combination of blues, rock, country, and New Orleans funk that some of us feel will never be equaled. He succumbed to a heart attack triggered by drug abuse in 1979.
